Intermediate coaching
Turn inconsistent rides into a coaching plan
Intermediate coaching is for surfers who know the basics but want repeated feedback on timing, position, line choice and control.

What intermediate means
Intermediate means the surfer can already participate in the water conversation. They understand the pop-up, can describe recent surf experience and have enough control to work on a specific habit instead of relearning the whole lesson every time.
This level is often frustrating because the surfer has tasted success but cannot repeat it. They may paddle too late, stand too tall, look down, miss the shoulder, stall after takeoff or lose speed before a turn. Coaching works best when the surfer brings one visible pattern instead of asking to fix everything at once.
Five-session coaching package
The coaching package concept is simple: buy a focused block of sessions, keep working with SFC over time and use each lesson to build on the last one. The first version should be five lessons, with a ten-lesson version available only after Scott confirms the margin, calendar rules and redemption process.
Because this is not a standard online checkout item yet, do not use the regular lesson calendar to buy a package. Contact SFC directly, explain the surfer’s current level and ask whether a coaching package is available for the dates and time windows you can actually use.
- Planned package size: five lessons first; ten lessons only if Scott approves it.
- Planned value: a meaningful but controlled package discount, not a deep discount that blocks higher-value lesson time.
- Planned timing: lower-volume windows where repeat coaching helps fill the calendar without crowding peak demand.
- Planned expiration: all sessions used inside the approved window, likely six to twelve months once Scott confirms the rule.
- Planned media: raw GoPro-style clips may be included when SFC confirms the camera plan, conditions and delivery expectation.
Techniques usually practiced
Intermediate sessions may work on paddling angle, takeoff timing, trimming down the line, choosing the right wave, reading the shoulder, compressing through turns, shifting weight without forcing the board and resetting after a missed attempt.
A five-session package can give enough repetition to test a correction across multiple days. That matters because a cue that works once in soft water may need adjustment when the tide, crowd, board or wave shape changes.

How raw footage can help
Raw clips can show whether the surfer is late, flat, stiff, off-balance or looking in the wrong direction. For an intermediate surfer, the value is often seeing the setup before the mistake, not only the mistake itself.
If footage is part of the package, keep the review tied to one coaching question. Slow motion can help, but it should not turn one surf habit into twenty disconnected criticisms.
Contact SFC before planning around a package
The coaching package is contact-first for now. SFC still needs to confirm package price, payment timing, eligible time slots, expiration, weather handling, reschedule deadlines, transferability and how unused sessions are handled.
If Scott and the booking system can support the package cleanly, the site can later add a dedicated purchase path. Until then, written confirmation from SFC matters more than any general page copy.
