Waikīkī surf guide
Choose the Right Lesson
Start with who joins you: an open class, one-on-one coaching or a private group. Then compare lesson length and price.

Which SFC lesson fits your group?
SFC runs three core lessons. The right one comes down to a single question: who do you want to share the instructor and the water with?
- Open group — you join other visitors, up to four students per instructor. The most social and the best value; great for solo travelers and easygoing first-timers.
- Private (1–2) — just you (or you plus one) and an instructor. The fastest progress and the most personal attention.
- private group (2–8) — only your own crew in the water, no strangers. Best for families, friends and celebrations who want to learn together.
Tip: Want the fastest results? Go private. Want the most fun for the price? Open group.

Special cases
Traveling with young kids, a nervous non-swimmer, or someone who needs extra support? A private or private group lesson gives the instructor room to adapt. Returning surfers who already stand up should look at coaching instead of a first lesson. When in doubt, text SFC your group and they’ll point you to the right one.
